According to wikipedia, A web browser is a software application which enables a user to display and interact with text, images, videos, music and other information typically located on a Web page at a website on the World Wide Web or a local area network. Text and images on a Web page can contain hyperlinks to other Web pages at the same or different website. Web browsers allow a user to quickly and easily access information provided on many Web pages at many websites by traversing these links. Web browsers format HTML information for display, so the appearance of a Web page may differ between browsers.
Some people may not know that there are a lot of browsers out there that offers different services, and features. although the most popular ones are:
- Internet Explorer
- Mozilla Firefox
- Apple Safari (for Mac, although they have an installer for Windows Platform)
Right now I have installed a lot of browsers here in my PC, since I am a technician and I want to be able to test one site with another web browser, so I installed these:
- Opera
- Maxthon
- Mozilla (although I have an installer here, this is not available on Mozilla’s website)
I am using Opera right now, here are some of the features of Opera
- Tabbed Browsing, It even saves the last pages you visit. So when you close your Opera Browser, every website that you left open in a tab will, definitely be there when you open the brower again.
- Speed Dial, just like a mobile phone, you’ll be able to store your favorite weblink, and just press ctrl + (1-9), and voila!
- You can download skins to change the look of your Opera Browser.
- Opera 9.5, look has become sleek.
Maxthon has the same features as the Opera, although you won’t have any problems browsing any sites using Maxthon because, when you use Maxthon, the websites Identifies Maxthon as Internet Explorer.
Mozilla Firefox 3 has been released and these are the features that they have been bragging 
- One Click Bookmarking
- Instant Website ID
- Improved Performance
- Full Zoom
- Smart Location Bar
- Platform Native Look & Feel
- Password Manager
- Security Features such as:
- Anti-Malware
- Anti-Phishing
- Parental Control
- Pop-up Blocker
- and so much more
I have not yet used the Firefox 3 so I have yet to see it’s functions and new features.
I love that they are coming up with new features for their browser to be top rated, but some of them are forgetting, some of the main ingredient that should be included in their browsers like:
Better Performance – I hate to name names, but the browser that tops my list as the slowest browser is Internet Explorer 7. Yeah I like the look but, man! It’s just damn slow when you open the browser! I’d rather use, Mozilla Firefox 3 rather than Internet Explorer 7.
Faster Browsing – And I won’t name names this time because I think you already know which browser tops my list (again)! Even though the Internet is fast the loading of a webpage takes a minute or two, or was it three?
Website Flexibility – This I won’t blame at the Web Browsers, but at the Web Masters! Please make your sites viewable to all Browsers! I still have to open Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer when I want to edit my settings at my Multiply site.
Well some of the cons are not the fault of the Web Browsers really. You really just need this Plug-ins to be able to view some website.

- Adobe Flash Player
- or maybe Quick Time Player
Web browsing has been an important part of using the internet, just use what you think suits you. There are still a lot of Web browsers out there that you can use on your PC.
